Devices
Device slots in Multogram: how a computer is linked to the account, how many devices a plan gives, how to buy an extra slot, rename or unlink a device, and what to do about the "No free device slots" error.
A device is a computer on which you signed in to the Multogram application. Each device takes one slot of your account. This way the license works only on your computers.
How a device is linked
There is nothing to set up. When you sign in to the application, the computer links itself to the account and takes a free slot. The application identifies the computer by a hardware fingerprint: the characteristics are encrypted on your machine, and only their hash reaches the server. So after reinstalling Windows or the application it is usually the same computer and the same slot.
On the website the device appears in Dashboard → Machines; in the application its short ID is visible in the profile — the This device item.
How many slots
| Plan | Slots in the plan |
|---|---|
| Free | 1 |
| Pro | 3 |
| Max | 5 |
Extra slots are bought in the Machines section: choose the quantity and pay. The price per slot is shown there too. One account can have no more than 5 devices — Max already has the maximum number of slots.
Managing devices
In Dashboard → Machines each device has:
- Status — active or not, the date of the last activity and the date it was linked;
- Device ID — it can be copied;
- Rename — give it a clear name, for example "Work laptop";
- Revoke — unlink the device. It loses access immediately, and the slot is freed. This can't be undone, but you can sign in on that computer again — it will take a free slot.
The computer's characteristics and network data are not shown in the dashboard.
Moving to a new computer
Move your data. Copy the folder with the session files and the accounts database file (save it with the button on the Accounts tab).
Free a slot if there are no free ones: Dashboard → Machines → Revoke for the old computer.
Install and sign in on the new computer, then open the database file on the Accounts tab.
If the session paths on the new computer are different, fix the Session file column or add the accounts again via Bulk.
Device errors
| Message | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| No free device slots | All of the account's slots are taken by other computers | Revoke a device you don't need or buy a slot. The error screen has a Manage devices button |
| This device is blocked | This computer is not allowed to work with the account | Contact support |
| Device not recognised | The computer could not be identified | Restart the application; if it happens again, contact support |
| This device is not registered yet | Linking didn't finish in time | Wait a few seconds and try again |
Common questions
Can I use one account on two computers?
Yes, if you have enough slots: each computer takes its own slot.
I reinstalled Windows — is a new slot taken?
Usually not: the computer is recognised by its hardware. If after reinstalling the application says there are no slots, revoke the old entry of this computer in the dashboard.
Can I transfer a slot to another account?
No. Slots belong to the Multogram account and can't be transferred.
Why are there more slots than the plan gives?
Purchased slots are counted on top of the plan — the dashboard shows them separately: "from your plan" and "purchased".
