Accounts, proxies and the messenger
Common questions about Telegram accounts in Multogram: how to add accounts and in which format, what to do with tdata, why the status is "Unauthorized", how to check accounts, set 2FA, attach proxies, whether to work without proxies, and about the built-in messenger.
How do I add accounts?
The Accounts tab → +. Manual — sign-in by phone number with a code, Session — one account from files, Bulk — many files or a list. See Accounts.
Which format do sessions need to be in?
You need a .session file and, preferably, a .json next to it with the same name. If you have tdata folders
from Telegram Desktop or Android data, convert them to .session with the Converter.
I have tdata folders — what do I do?
Convert them to .session with the Converter, then add the resulting
files via Bulk.
Why do I need a .json file next to the .session?
It holds the device, language and time zone parameters the account signed in with before. Without it every sign-in looks to Telegram like a sign-in from a new phone.
Why is an imported account "Unauthorized"?
When importing, the application doesn't sign in to Telegram. Run the Check accounts mass action — the status updates.
How do I check which accounts are alive?
Tick the accounts → Mass actions → Check accounts. Spam restrictions — Check restrictions. See Mass actions.
How do I set or change the cloud password (2FA) on many accounts?
The Security mass action: set, change or remove the password and end other sessions.
Does deleting an account from the database delete the files?
No, only the row is deleted. The .session and .json files stay on disk.
How many accounts can I add?
As many as you like — the plan doesn't limit the database.
Can I split accounts into groups?
Yes: create several tables in the database (+ Create New Table) and switch between them. A task takes accounts from the open table.
Why do I need proxies?
So that each account reaches Telegram from its own IP. Telegram links many accounts on one IP and restricts them faster. See Proxies.
Which proxies are supported?
socks5, socks4, http, https, with or without a login and password. SOCKS5 is the usual choice for Telegram.
Can I work without proxies?
With a couple of your own accounts — yes. For mass work — no: all accounts would go online from your IP.
Which proxies are better?
Mobile and residential ones — Telegram trusts them more than server ones. This matters most for registration and inviting.
How do I attach a proxy to many accounts at once?
The Proxy mass action — one proxy for all selected accounts. To give each its own, attach them in the Proxy column or when adding accounts.
What is the built-in messenger?
A Telegram client inside Multogram with many accounts open at once: chatting from any of them in one click. It opens with the globe icon in an account's row. See Messenger.
How do I view a conversation without marking it as read?
In the messenger, a long press on a conversation opens a preview that doesn't mark messages as read.
Can I sign in to an account by phone number right in the messenger?
No, the messenger works with ready sessions. Sign-in by number is on the Accounts tab, Add Account → Manual.
