Channel Clonner

The Channel Clonner mode in Multogram: moving posts from source channels into your channel — with their media and albums, with hashtags and links removed, word replacements and your caption under every post. Filters, limits and publishing order.

Accounts

One account — an administrator of the destination channel

Restriction risk

LowPublishing in your own channel; the risk is complaints from rights holders

Channel Clonner moves posts from other people's or your own channels into your channel — for example, to fill a new channel quickly. It is a one-off transfer of already published posts. To move new posts as they come out, use Content Bot.

What you need

  • A Destination channel where the task's account is an administrator with the right to post.
  • Sources — channels that can be copied from. Channels with content protection (copying restricted) can't be cloned.
  • The task takes one account, and the work runs in one thread.

Post Processing

ParameterDefaultWhat it does
Processing optionsClone mediaClone media, Simplify text, Replace text, Add caption
Remove from textHashtags, linksFor Simplify text: Hashtags (#), Links (together with @username mentions), Emoji, Styles
Replacement chains—For Replace text: "find → replace" rules
Caption—For Add caption: text at the end of each post — composed in the editor with Telegram formatting

The Caption is composed in the same editor as mailing messages, with a preview: bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, spoiler, code, quote, links and emoji. A caption has no attachments, templates or rich blocks (headings, lists, tables) — the caption of a media post cannot hold them.

Replacement chains are a list of rules. Each rule has: what to find, what to replace it with, the mode (plain text or a regular expression), whether to match case, whether to match whole words only, and an "enabled" switch. Rules can be exported and imported as JSON.

How a post is processed

PostClone mediaWhat gets published
With a photo, video, album, file, voice messageOnThe media as in the original, and the post's text after simplifying and replacements, with the caption at the end
With mediaOffOnly the post's text — after simplifying, replacements and the caption. The media is dropped
Text only (a link preview included)Doesn't matterThe text after simplifying, replacements and the caption

The media is not downloaded or uploaded again — Telegram refers to the same files. An album is one post: it is published whole, and the caption goes where the album had its text. When processing changed nothing, the post is copied one to one.

  • Telegram limits the caption of media to 1024 characters. When the post's text together with the caption is longer, the post's text is shortened (ending in "…") and the caption stays whole. A text post's limit is 4096.
  • When nothing is left of a media post's text after processing, it is published without text; a text post is skipped in that case.
  • Telegram attaches no caption to a poll, a round video, a sticker or a location — such a post is copied as it is, and the text with the caption is published right after it as a message of its own; the log says so.

How it works

  1. The account checks that it is an administrator of the destination channel — if not, the log shows a warning.
  2. For each source the channel's history is read — the latest posts within Posts per source, an album counting as one post. For a link to a post — only that post (for a photo of an album — the whole album).
  3. Posts are published from oldest to newest — your channel shows them in the same order as the source. Each post goes through the filters and processing, and every publication is followed by a pause.
  4. The log shows "Post #… cloned" or "Post #… skipped: reason". At the end — "Cloning finished".

Recommendations

  • A test transfer. First 2–3 posts into a test channel: check the simplifying, replacements and caption.
  • A delay of at least 30 seconds. Dozens of publications in a row look like spam and may hit limits.
  • Respect rights. Copying other people's content without permission may lead to complaints and a channel ban.
  • Replacements for links. To swap other people's links for your own, use Replacement chains instead of removing links.

Common questions

Why did fewer posts end up in the channel than set?

Posts per source is how many of the latest posts to take, not how many to publish. Some are filtered out, and service messages (such as "channel created") are not posts.

Why is the text of a post with a picture cut short?

Telegram limits the caption of media to 1024 characters. Your caption is kept whole, so a long post text is shortened to make room for it.

Is a post with a link preview a media post?

No. A link preview is part of the text: the Posts with media filter does not skip such a post, and simplifying links removes the preview together with the link.

Why was a source skipped?

The source channel has content protection enabled — Telegram forbids copying its posts.

Will adding accounts speed up cloning?

No. The mode works with one account in one thread, so posts aren't published to the channel twice.

How is Channel Clonner different from Content Bot?

Channel Clonner is a one-off transfer of already published posts. Content Bot watches sources continuously and moves new posts; it can rewrite them with AI and send them for approval.
